In Bloom
Hey all! I came across this site while searching for information about Black Lemon Reserve by @Amos Otis, so it’s only fitting that BLR be my first journal entry.

I popped three seeds at the end of June 2024 and kept the two that grew most vigorously, which I know as BLR #2 and BLR #3. I took clones from those plants to keep as moms in early August. The established plants were transplanted into an Earthbox toward the end of August. In these photos, BLR #2 is on the left and BLR #3 is on the right.

Both plants seemed pretty happy in their new home. Here are progress shots after less than a week in the EarthBox:

The first layer of trellis went up in early September. The plants filled the space pretty quickly. The top photo shows the plants a few days after the first trellis was installed, while the two photos that follow show the plants after another week:

The plants had to be kept in veg must longer than intially anticipated. There was a decent amount of topping and pruning going on during this time. Fast forward to mid-November:

Blooming was initiated on 12/04/2024. Another layer of trellis had to be added during the stretch. Here are the plants on Week 4 of bloom:

I’m running into the attachment limit on this post. More to come!

The plants continued to gain height and grew taller than the tent door, making shots from above and canopy management a little trickier. Here we are entering Week 7 of flower:

These plants are currently early into Week 10 of flower, and my sense is that we’re getting pretty close to harvest. (I’ve yet to start scoping trichomes, partly because it’s so hard to get to the tops given how tall these grew above the tent door 😅) The ladies smell wonderful - I can’t do them proper justice as the scent is more complex than I can describe right now, but the lemon is definitely present.

Current pictures (and maybe even trich shots) will be coming soon!

Looking good man. Can't go wrong with Brisco's Bargain beans. I just grew a few of the BLR myself. Stanky danky.

Time for a quick Black Lemon Reserve update! I snapped the below pictures yesterday, which marked 10 full weeks in bloom. I don’t think I’ve ever come across harvest window guidance for BLR, but I get the sense that these can go for a bit longer still.

I probably should have removed more fan leaves earlier and plan to do so soon to get a little more light down lower and to help keep humidity down. I’ve been under the weather for a few days but hope to be able to tackle this today.

At this point in the plants’ life they’re receiving 11 hours of light per day. I put R/O water containing Grease Gold, Green, Purple, Amber, and Yellow in the EarthBox reservoir, and about once a week (and only when the reservoir is dry), I top water with coconut powder and those same five Grease products.

I’ve also been foliar spraying those Grease products on a regular basis, most recently about four days ago. I use a sprayer that produces a very fine mist that dries fairly rapidly. I also have canopy and under-canopy fans running along with an A/C and dehumidifier to keep relative humidity below 50% to the extent possible, though there is, of course, a brief rise during and immediately after spraying…

While I started this grow journal by recounting the life and times of my Black Lemon Reserve plants, those aren’t the only ones I have going at the moment. I have two Mayberry plants by Blue Star Seed Co. in a neighboring tent. Mayberry and BLR were germinated, cloned, transplanted, and flipped to flower at the same time. Below are a few photo highlights to get us up to speed; in these photos, the plant I know as Mayberry #1 is on the left and Mayberry #2 is on the right.

Two days before flipping to flower:

Six weeks into bloom:

Finally, here are photos from today, which is the first day of Week 12:

Neglecting to install at least one layer of trellis seems to have been a mistake as Mayberry #2 has had a hard time supporting its weight.

The plants exhibit interesting phenotypical variation. Mayberry #1 is producing nugs like golf balls and has flat tops, while Mayberry #2 is throwing spears.

The effects are said to be quite nice and the scent is really delightful, so I’m really looking forward to eventually being able to enjoy these!

Yesterday was harvest day! Black Lemon Reserve and Mayberry went 12 full weeks in flower.

I didn’t have the chance earlier to post about these separately, but I also had a 3x3 containing four autos by Mephisto Genetics (2 x Mephisto’s Wedding and 2 x Aunt Ginny’s Elixir) that were harvested yesterday. MW #1 was harvested at 88 days from germination, while the others were at 89 days. I would have liked to run these all for a little longer but had to harvest everything simultaneously to be able to maintain proper environmental parameters for all the plants.

Here’s the auto tent shortly before harvest. Aunt Ginny’s Elixir is in the back, Mephisto’s Wedding is up front. Left = #1, Right = #2.

I accidentally topped AGE #2 when an attempt at supercropping went awry, but she really responded well.

Man great job being patient. That's how you get that weight.
