School me on defoliating in flower.

It washes away all the environmental fall-out (dirt, bugs, floating, spores, etc). This way your not smoking it.

Helps with PM in flower and bud rot (at the 1st sign). Can soil drench and foliar, starting in veg, 1x a week theu flower if/as needed.

@Chefdave
Do you remember the "whitening powder" they used to mix into the iceberg lettuce for salads back in the day? What was that stuff? It was like an anti-wilting food safe powder. We used to make a 55gal brute can filled with salad mix and water.
I do remember, my dad was a life long 50 year Marriott food service employee, he started at hot shops in DC , eventually became a regional VP for the educational food service division, they would use that crap, being industrial food service. I still don't know what it was made of, but remember it well.

Copper fungicide is dr bronners main ingredient (iirc). I wouldn't feel safe spraying that in a flowering plant.

Alot of OD guys who do bud washing before trim, use PC1 in one of their bucket dunks.

PC1 bucket, plain h2o, plain h2o. And see zero issues with texture, trichome issues, or taste.

I did bud washing last yr on my OD plants (Lemon juice/baking soda, plain h2o, plain h2o). Absolutely game changer. Best end result on my flower in the 15+yrs of flowering and drying.
I've heard of bud washing, but know absolutely nothing about it. How's it done?

3x 5 gallon buckets, each room temp h20

1st bucket has 1cup lemon juice and 1 cup baking soda (mix well)
2nd bucket plain h2o
3rd bucket plain h2o

Dunk 3x in each bucket, then hang dry. Trim at leisure. Look in 1st and 2nd bucket for all the dirt/dust/bugs.
So you do that when you chop, right before you hand to dry, right? How long does your drying time take with that?

Yes, day of chop from plant. I did my 1st bucket with lemon juice and baking soda (mix well), 2nd and 3rd buckets are clean rinse buckets.

H2o2 can mess with the flavor (so ive read).
Do your dunks, then let hang dry. I hung dry for 3hrs, then Trimmed, and put on my dry nets. I don't like dry trimming, I'm a wet trim guy (been doing that way since 08.

I like to clean up the lower branches, then let the tops grow big for the flip to 12/12. These plants should be ready in a week.
BTW - I don’t grow for yield, so a small stretch is fine.
I also remove leaves that are pointed toward the center. Gotta keep the center open for airflow.

Yesterday I sprayed with the usual sulfur/pyrethrin mix. This is a veg-only thing, and I haven’t had mites or PM in flower since. (Fingers crossed)

Just a footnote to this thread. In the first comment on this thread I posted pics of six clones in cups. Since then the one at left rear and front center were obviously not thriving so I pulled them from the veg tent. Then, on a whim, I tossed them into the front of the flower tent. Thought I'd play with them a little and see what happens if I try to flower them as babies.
