The chuck I did under Pure Michigan f5 barely produced any seeds .Is it possible or has anyone seen once ran up f4 ++ the strain get so stable even the males stop producing viable pollen? In this case it's Pure Michigan f5...These stemmed from @Frimpong Pure Mich f2s which I do remember him saying he couldn't even reverse the f2. To me that screams stable ...Any insight from anyone..I know running strains up past f2 within todays breeders isn't profitable or something that normally happens but perhaps someone has been there that can chime in..I'll try again with the f5 male but whole plants in 2 gallon pots and healthy ass plants produced extremely low seed counts..and they was dusted so heavy the leaf was yellow with pollen coverage at one point..Left the male in untill he completely quit dropping...I've gotten more seeds out of single branch pollenation.... @jaws ..love to hear your input....The plants that was under this male was something I really want to continue..SOOO limited

humm never heard of that happening, i have never had that happen to me in all the years and strains i have breed. only fem pollen has done that to me, really not sure what that could be causing that issue.

i have some f4 but have not popped any of them yet. will make a notation next to them to look for that when there time comes.

humm ya very odd brother ..

I followed a breeders journey on a strain that started out being a bad seed producer so moving forward that’s one thing he worked towards. He was able to get the line to be a better seed producer but it took a couple generations. I don’t remember any more details but I’ll stay tuned for some learning. I know some strains throw barely any pistils while others don’t stop throwing them. I prefer less when breaking up and smoking but for breeding I guess the more the merrier. On the male side I would think stable would mean good fertile pollen but again just a thought. Good luck on getting this line to produce tons of beans. I really like the pm leaning gorilla mittens, that cedar taste and pain relieving effects are great.

Pretty odd that the pollen wasn't viable. Did you try that same pollen on another plant? Curious to see if it was the pollen or the just the receiving plant.
Same pollen on 5 different cuts....The Chocolate Thai f5 seemed to take it way better than the others.Looks like quite a few beans but haven't broke it up yet...(.Gary Payton x Oreozs) Katsu Headsmog.. Finedakine Space Jam... Bob's dancing Lime..In the process of shucking all but Thai and ide be lucky to see 50 beans per plant.. Decent size plants in 2 gallon...should be more seeds then I could actually do something with...Just isn't..I'll know soon but disappointed

Maybe you nabbed a triploid male?
Had the opposite happen with Mago Biche, I think 2 of 3 females were triploid.
He's not a triploid but still scratching my head. I'm about to use him again to make f6 and I'm sure a few other cuts will be sitting amongst the two f5 gals.. Giving him another go..Not a huge deal for me to go f6 this f5 gal will suit me fine for many runs..However this male has a real cinnamon smell that I haven't encountered before from a Pure Michigan plant..I really want to pop some f6 that came from him

I've had some things with such a narrow window that until I can pinpoint through continuous observation after pollination, to determine when pollen spores successfully germinate- I've had to just keep a split up supply of vials to pull out from fridge every 5 days, or live productive male to keep pulling from weekly, some plants will only take it really early...but I've had things only take pollen within a 1 week window or less, though rare. If other plants you dusted with the same pollen are producing way more beans? Could be the window, multiple dustings spaced out over a month or more could help idk though🤔

I know you arent reversing but for hard to reverse things...I've had a few special mommas I spent 3+ years trying to reverse...had to finally break it down between many different clones taking different sts strength, starting before flower trigger and up to first hairs developing to begin sts application, to pinpoint what it wanted for viable pollen or stamens at all...2 strains required direct silver nitrate solution injections at each node to finally flip teams. A very good day when those finally reversed. Cobalt chloride another option @325-475μg. I've found a few strains reversed easier if I let some pistils form first, it's been kinda across the board when it comes to the challenging reversals... but injections kinda last resort.
100mg SiN/10ml distilled H2O, using 1ml insulin syringe w/ the 100 unit increment markings...injecting 4 drops (about 20 units) ..gotta inject AFTER some pistils form, anything above that injection node will turn.
Would be rad seeing some f2 PM s1's if that gets revisisted by frim :sneaky:

The few seeds you did get, hopefully you can find an ideal male in there to also use to chuck with or similar female to what you chucked at and can keep the current male around in veg to chuck with later, see if there is a different response troubleshooting that route

Wish I had an answer though, thats always a bummer but im glad you are gonna keep at it sounds like😎!

Certainly will! That f5 pure Michigan male is something special I just know it..Quite a few small white beans.. Very minimal decent beans...The cross with the Headsmog is the one I'm most bummed about... However I cut a tray of headsmog clones yesterday..I may Chuck the Hannibal Og f2 at her too.. However being headsmog and PM being my favorite cuts personally I'm aiming for f2 really hard on that cross...The Gary Payton x Oreozs cross would be phenomenal as well..
