Hello everyone. New member, new grower.

I'm on my second grow, and this forum has been a lifesaver! The vast amount of knowledge and helpful people here have been incredible. I wouldn’t have started or continued without them. Every visit teaches me something new.

I keep a grow log using AI, which is super convenient. I use the voice option on my phone to record the nutrients I’m adding, TDS, temps, and observations about how the plants look. The AI tracks all my dates and updates the log when I’m done. For my first grow, I had it create a Google Calendar to alert me about watering days, but this time I’m checking the plants manually.

My advice: try not to get caught in analysis paralysis. The plants will show you what they’re lacking or getting too much of. Use a leaf/flower chart or ask here to figure it out, then adjust. Don’t overcorrect like I did on my first grow. Also, avoid adding “extra” plants unless you have the tent space, as it can mess with your veg/flowering cycles. I’m dealing with that now after my first attempt at cloning, which worked great but left me with plants and no room to veg them.

Next up for me is setting up a watering system. Watering a couple of plants in my 2x2 tent was fine, but upgrading to a 4x4 is taking more time and effort, especially since I’m growing two strains that drink different amounts.

One key tip I got this round was that I upsized my pots too early, which can slow growth. Some growers do three pot-size changes, others four: seedling in a pod, then something like a solo cup, then a pot about 1.5 times larger, and finally the final size—or one more stage in between. ChefDave and a few others mentioned this and could probably share specific container sizes.

And finally just have fun and enjoy it -- I'm far more satisfied doing this than going to the dispo.

Thank you for the advice 🤙🏻

It’s been about 1 year since I starting using cannabis after a 12 year break. I quit when I joined the military in 2013, after that, as a civilian I was subject to hair follicle testing until 2025 when CA passed AB2188. I’d like to build a collection of older strains, while also building a collection of strains specifically to make cold cure rosin. I’m starting off with a AC infinity 5x5 tent paired with a 650w HLG tomahawk. My tent setup isn’t final, Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Still collecting supplies before I germinate some seeds I have. Excited to start a new hobby🤙🏻
Welcome to the hunt bro 😎

Update. It’s been about 3 months since I germinated my first seeds. From left to right, 3 months old 1997 Supersilver haze x skunky brewster, 2 months old Zamaldelica x Thai, 1 month old G13 Skunk x 91 black triangle. 707 blend soil, hand watering with de-chlorinated tap water with power si, adding bushmaster cal-mag 2x per week. Light schedule has been 18 on 6 off. I’m about to flip into a flower lighting schedule this week. I did have an issue with knats, nothing major but I found sand on the top layer helps. Future grows will be all germinated at the same time.

Looking good! Are you planning on flowering the 1 month old plants at the same time? FWIW I try to get 2 months of vegetative growth before I flip them. With clones they just need to be well rooted.
Another thing I always do, it to spread about 1 cup of fresh worm castings to the top layer of my 2 gallon pots, and cover that with my mulch topping. I only see fungus gnats if I neglect the worm castings.
You will be righteously rewarded for your efforts, as your plants look to be very healthy. Good growing!
