Michigan peeps, need some travel advice/thoughts please

CHOOSE YOUR TITLE
Hey all, so we decided to let our daughter help plan a trip for her spring break (end of March). She has a cool goal of visiting all 50 states and she has her eyes set on Michigan and Wisconsin.

Think we are gonna fly into Milwaukee (2 -3 nights), green Bay (2 nights) and then into MI to stay in Menominee (border of Marinette WI). Anybody have any suggestions for maybe 1 more night somewhere near Menominee MI??? something maybe on hwy 35 all the way up to Escanaba ? cool town on shore of lake Michigan along the way?

any help appreciated! mucho gracias!

U.P. Can be diffucult to find something to do for the whole day…but the natural beauty around there is awesome. I don’t go down to where Menominee is much…but whenever I can, I like to smoke and hike around here…if there is a nice Natural landmark in the U.P. The restaurants and shops around them are cool. Stop in at the Native American shops when ya can!

Keep an eye out for music festivals and such, awesome farmers markets up there too.

that has been true in what i've been looking at. we like hiking/walking so even just on the shore of Lake Michigan would be cool. thanks for the 2 links.

you know much about Escanaba? hwy 35 looks nice as it follows the coastline. that would be about as far from Menominee/marinette as we'd want to go. then 4 hrs back to milwaukee

Going in March you'll be getting Pure Michigan. Cold probably snow on the ground, ice for sure, grey skies and wind, don't forget the wind. Most of the state looks similar to what you'll see up there. I'm not far from Mackinaw but I don't travel and think I've been up that way a couple times in my life. It's a good drive across the bridge from me.

I'm sure the local breweries and restaurants can point you to some fun stuff to do and some good eats. They'll also appreciate the business, not a lot of tourism that time of year. Used to go up to Paradise area fishing for Whitefish, that was our UP destination. Blueberries, Whitefish and some amazing waterfalls, was always a good time.

I have mushroom hunted the state forest in Escanaba but that it. 35 is a nice drive for sure, lots of look out spots and places to take it all in.
 
Yooper here! That's an awesome idea. That sounds much more memorable than a typical spring break trip. Like everyone else has stated, it's going to continue being cold, deep snow and grey up here at that time. I live in Gogebic County West of where you're going. There's certainly not a ton to do if you don't fish, snowmobile or hike. I'm sure you'll find it pleasantly quiet and welcoming wherever you go. If you made it up to Marquette you would find some cool restaurants and breweries. My area on the Wisconsin side has some real good Fish Fry's and taverns. I live right on the boarder on the Michigan side. Over 1100 lakes within 30 minute drive. Lots of waterfalls, hiking, snow showing and ice fishing. If you find yourself in Gogebic County, let me know and I'll drill some extra holes for you and your family 😉

a guy I used to work with over in Sweden said it best (but in a swedish accent) no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing. lol. so true. guess the good part is nothing will be crowded with spring breakers.

you guys do it right up there unlike Colorado where we cant have permanent ice shelters. I'd have satellite TV, a kegerator and a nice recliner in my ice hut!!! maybe some strippers on pay day;)
