I might have half a dozen that look like this. I thought it was from tugging on helmets, but I'm starting to think it is something else.
I well sequester the damaged ones and observe for changes.

You're probably right on with the pill bugs. I've seen them eating emerging seedlings before. They only seem to eat the cotyledons, I've had them eat seedlings right down to a nub, seem to love that new tender shoot. No idea how to get rid of them though, I just squash them when I see them.

Was kind of cute to see the first little nibbles
Then they felled a couple of my crosses, that was less amusing
After they took a couple of plants that my friend had sent me, I was ready to saw off a shotgun and set up a tree stand.
I'm kind of a busy guy, and that didn't seem very practical. 12 dollars worth of traps got me from a single to an arsenal of five. Seemed like the next best thing.
